San Antonio Neighborhood

The temple of San Antonio was founded by Franciscan friars in the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries in honor of San Antonio de Padua. The festivity begins with the arrival to the temple of the image of San Diego Alcalá and Santa Lucía.

During the festivities in honor of San Antonio de Padua, people can see him and receive the holy water, dyed with rosewood and perfumed with incense.

The main trade that characterizes this neighborhood is the elaboration of fireworks, calling colloquially "coheteros" to the people who elaborate this pyrotechnics. This tradition dates back 150 years. In addition, this neighborhood is also known for the elaboration of unique traditional dishes.

Date of the neighborhood festival: June 13th
